Volunteer
Would you like to give your time to the children and families in Iowa and Nebraska? Volunteers are a critical part of the Heartland Family Service team. We rely on volunteers to diversify and expand the services we offer to our clients, as well as to promote and raise funds for the agency. Heartland Family Service has many volunteer groups open to anyone interested in giving time and resources to those in need.

Heartland Family Service Friends Guild
The purpose of the Friends Guild is to broaden awareness in our community and to assist in the fundraising efforts and activities of Heartland Family Service that benefit the clients we serve.
Junior Friends
Junior Friends – Beginning in September, Junior Friends consists of mature high school teens looking to deepen their commitment to volunteerism. Junior Friends participants must be in grades 9-12 in order to participate. Junior Friends participate and plan small events throughout the school year. Junior Friends builds on experiences and provides in depth opportunities to help serve the community in conjunction with Heartland Family Service programs. There is no cost for the group and anyone is encouraged to participate. This is a great way for students to gain some service hours needed for graduation!

Student League
Student League –The Student League was created to honor families who have been active in helping the social service community and who want to pass that legacy onto their children. Selected student members are introduced to the social service community through the mission and services of our agency. The students gain practical leadership experience and develop a personal commitment to volunteering by participating in this “hands on” curriculum. Students must be in grades 9-12 in order to apply to be a participant in the Student League program. We do some learning opportunities for students once a month. Some of these activities include a poverty simulation, presentations from some service staff, and more. Our program runs from September-April and is usually on a Sunday afternoon/evening to avoid conflict with other activities. The participation fee is $700. Students will receive a t-shirt, snacks, drinks, and service hours. The fee will be given back to the services that our clients use.
