One Oak

A therapeutic school providing resources and an alternative approach to education, healing, and growth for vulnerable youth in our community.

Heartland Family Service One Oak Heartland Family Service One Oak school provides Alternative Education and Intensive Outpatient Programing (IOP) to children grades K-12 in our community.

Located on our North Omaha Intergenerational Human Services Campus, One Oak is housed in a historical mid-century building with abundant natural light, a centrally-located outdoor classroom, gymnasium, outdoor basketball court, playground, and community garden. The school also features a game room, library, and mindfulness center to better support our students’ academic, emotional, and occupational needs.

Our One Oak staff value inclusion and diversity and welcome students of every race, religion, and socioeconomic background.

One Oak’s technology rich classrooms feature a modular learning style, individualized to each student’s academic needs. Our bright and spacious classrooms are equipped with learning tablets, a multimedia smart board, library and computer lab access. Each classroom is supported by two support coaches, in addition to the teacher.

One Oak’s socioemotional learning experience serves students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that includes behavioral, emotional, and/or learning special needs. Our low student-to-staff ratio ensures that each student receives one-on-one instruction and assistance with coursework, as well as focus on identifying root causes for negative behavior and replacing with appropriate coping skills. This allows each student to be equipped with a variety of tools and skills to use throughout their educational careers and beyond.

One Oak integrates therapy services into our daily curriculum through group therapy sessions with all students, as well as individual therapy sessions with our licensed therapists. Our therapists are trained and experienced in a variety of different therapy models to best support the individual needs of each student.

One Oak’s team members have a passion for providing a safe, open, nurturing, and trustworthy community. By providing on-site therapeutic services, we aim to support our students so they can be successful in all areas of their lives.

One Oak offers Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) during the evening hours in a safe, comfortable environment. Please contact us for more information about our extensive IOP program.

One Oak partners with local organizations and community partners to provide our students with different resources and experiences. This allows our students to connect with a variety of opportunities such as art, athletic involvement, gang intervention, volunteering, college/vocational preparation, and mentoring.

One Oak embodies not only the student, but the entire family. We offer parental engagement, support groups, resources, and family-oriented opportunities.
