Since 1875, Heartland Family Service has been strengthening individuals and families in our community through education, counseling, and support services.

We are solving a community problem

While most families are facing increased financial stress in this economy, low-income families are struggling the most. In the past few years, Heartland Family Service has added several new programs that close a critical gap in community services for homeless and near-homeless children and families.

Our new permanent supportive housing programs include support services that help families make real progress toward self-sufficiency. Mental health therapy, parenting education and addictions treatment can be addressed once the housing situation is stable. Thus, the family is better prepared to respond to daily pressures and serious problems.

Ultimately, children gain long-term benefit from growing up in a stable environment with parents who are able to provide for them.
