Heartland Family Service depends on the support of many people. Our volunteer groups coordinate and get updates through Facebook, as well as on our website.

Student League Facebook Logo

The Student League was created to honor families who have been active in helping the social service community and who want to pass that legacy onto their children. Student members, all in ninth grade, are introduced to the social service community through the mission and services of our agency. The students gain practical leadership experience and develop a personal commitment to volunteering by participating in this “hands on” curriculum.

The Heartland Family Service Friends Guild is a 200-member auxiliary organization of our board of directors. The Friends Board is an active group of leaders who are busy throughout the school year with a variety of fundraising events and program volunteer activities. All interests are accommodated—for those who like to get involved, as well as for those who are content to simply lend their support through a nominal membership fee. Here you can make a real difference in the lives of those who need your support!

Are you a high-school teen who gets a warm feeling from doing a good deed? This volunteer group is for you and your friends who want to help those who are less fortunate. Monthly meetings and a choice of activities culminate in the big event of the year—the Senior Prom for the “mature” members of our Senior Center, hosted by the Junior Friends. This is a party you won’t soon forget!

Hundreds of volunteers each year offer help with the various program activities of our agency. Can you find some time to paint a room, dig a garden, sort through donations, provide child care for client groups, or teach a class? We need you!

The Heartland Family Service board of directors governs our agency and provides leadership and strategic direction. About 30 members representing large and small organizations throughout the community share their expertise on specialized task forces and projects. Several of our board members have remained on our board for additional terms, lending support and continuity to our efforts.
