Since 1875, Heartland Family Service has been strengthening individuals and families in our community through education, counseling, and support services.

Take this exceptional parenting class that teaches parents and others who work with children how to set limits - limits that help children understand boundaries and give them a sense of safety and security.

This 6-session workshop is based on Dr. Robert MacKenzie’s book “Setting Limits.” It is designed for parents, teachers, and anyone who works with children and who wishes to find the right balance between being too permissive and too restrictive.

Participants learn to:

  • set firm, clear limits
  • end conflicts and struggles
  • communicate rules
  • encourage cooperation
  • teach problem-solving skills to children
  • apply consequences of misbehavior
  • solve problems with chores and homework, and
  • to apply the information to children with hyperactivity and inattentiveness.
